| Shangri-la actually means the join of Daocheng, Muli (in Sichuan province), Lijiang, and Zhongdian (in Yunnan province). Daocheng was anciently named "Daoba," meaning the open place of the valley in Tibetan language. It didn't acquire its name till in 17th century, the people succeeded planting rice. They gave the name "Daocheng", meaning the place produce rice. Daocheng is located in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in eastern Tibetan--Qinghai plateau, contiguous to Muli County in south-east, Zhongdian county of Yunnan province in west, Litang County in north. |

D1. Arrive in Chengdu
Arrive in Chengdu, visit Wuhou shrine and Dufu straw cottage if the time available, then transfer to the hotel.
D2. Chengdu / Kangding (389km)
We will pass the rain city Ya-An and along the Qingyi river ascent to Mt Erlang.
D3. Kangding / Litang (294km)
When we get over three big mountains we will arrive to Litang county visit Litang temple.
D4. Litang/Sang Dui/Daocheng
Visit to Mt Haizi Nature Reserve where highland lakes crowed here so the mountain got the name of Haizi (son of sea). It is the sea of mountains, the sea of stone s and the sea of lives which waiting for your visit.
D5. Daocheng/Riwa /Yading Nature reserve (Walk 4Km)
We will visit Gong Galangjiling monastery by the way and we will not miss the Tibetan style buildings and the prayer flags erect by the road.
D6. Chonggusi / Luorong Yak farm (Walk 7Km)
We will ride to look around the colorful lake and the milk lake on the mountain. And then we will return to Luorong Yak farm and camp here.
D7. Luorong Yak farm /Gewa (Walk 11Km)
Along the shoulder of Xialuoduojie we will get over this mountain which with 4950 meters high in altitude. And we will camp on the mountain in the night.
D8. Gewa/Galuo, (Walk 15Km)
Today we will go down the mountain and we will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the southern slope and the meager soil of the northern slope. When we get through the primitive forest, the beautiful village Galuo appears to our front.
D9. Galuo/Geka (Walk 17Km)
Along the Shuiluo river, with the sound of the water flow company with us and the tender wind touch our body, we arrival to another Tibet village Geka. The night here is quiet, and moon here is bright. We camp near the village.
D10. Geka/Qiao Tou (Walk 10Km)
We will get through one village and another. And today¡¯s trip is much easy, it is only take 4 hours we will get the last destination. We camp near the bridge.
D11. Qiaotou/Muli city
So we have finished our trekking and we will take bus to Muli County, and by the way we will visit Muli monastery, before 1960?¡¥s here got one big copper bell with 30 meters high. But it was destroyed every thing that worth to be reserved during the culture revolution.
D12. Muli/Lugu Lake
Today we will drive to the mystical Mosuo land, ¡°the female kingdom¡± which lies in the Lugu Lake. It is known around the world not only for its beautiful natural scenery, but also because it is home to a unique matriarchate well-preserved by the indigenous Mosuo people, who are a branch of the Naxi (also spe lt Nakhi and Nahi) ethnic minority group. Explore Liwubi Island, which lies three kilometers (one point nine miles) away from Chieftain Island, is actually a small peninsula extended into the lake by the Holy Gemu Mountain. The mountain is also called Lion Mountain, for it looks like a lion drinking water beside the lake.
D13. Lugu Lake
Visit the Mosuo family and listen to their tale about the family structure and the run of their family around the ever-fire pool. Explore the mystery of Mosuo land.
D14. Lugu lake/Lijiang
After breakfast, take a home visit of the local Mosuo people and the Zha Mei Monastery in Yongning. This is the biggest lamasery in Lugu Lake area, which is 2 km north of Yongning Town. There is a big courtyard surrounding the temple. Inside the temple, you can see both the statue of the goddess Gemu and the goddess Buddha. Both the Tibetan Buddhism and the Daba Religion (a primitive religion) are still being worship by the local people. During the Cultural Revolution, the temple was badly destroyed leaving behind only one part of the temple structure. This was then rebuilt in 1986.
D15. Lijiang
We will visit the ancient city which is the world culture heritage assigned by UNESCO. In the morning we will visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain .In the afternoon we will have free time to walk around in the old city .The clean breaks and waving willows will release all the tiresome of travel from us.
D16. Lijiang/Kunming
Take a morning flight back to Kunming. Afternoon will be free time on your own to explore the city.
D17. Kunming Exit
Fly to your next destination. For additional nights in Kunming, please inquire at time of booking.
